Natural, relaxed & romantic Wedding Photography
Congratulations on your engagement! If you’re reading this, you must be planning your wedding and searching for the perfect photographer to capture and preserve your memories. It’s a difficult decision with so many photographers and photographic styles to choose from, but in addition to finding a style you love, your photographer and they way they work needs to be the right ‘fit’ for you and your partner in order to authentically capture your most special day.
My photographic style is best described as ‘lifestyle’ and ‘documentary’ and this means that I will document the story of your day in an artistic and considered way, that reflects your personalities and values. I will capture the action as it happens and allow events to unfold naturally, without interfering or directing. So for the majority of the day, I will be photographing discretely and candidly, while ensuring that I am positioned to use the light and location to show you at your best and capture all those special moments, focusing on natural reactions and emotions. There is a skill in anticipating these moments and capturing the second before it happens and the second after, in order to produce images filled with genuine feeling and expression. However, there are a couple of elements to the day where you and your guests will require some guidance from me - your (informal) formal group photos and your portraits. I have to ‘pose’ you a little bit in order to create the photograph, but it really is in the loosest sense of the word. I have to make sure everyone is facing the camera, but I want you and your guests to feel and look relaxed so there won’t be any starchy positions or insisting that everyone has their toes pointing in the same direction!
For your portraits, I will gently direct you and your partner so I can provide you with a variety of naturally un-posed images, that beautifully and creatively showcase your unique relationship. Some couples require more guidance than others but I work hard to find the right balance between hanging back and letting you do your thing, and stepping in and making suggestions. Unless you are professional models you will probably require some guidance in order for me to produce the photos you want.
I know that being in front of the camera isn’t most people’s happy place. Don’t worry - I’ll keep you talking and moving so that you look relaxed and natural in your pictures.
After your wedding, I hand edit each picture in your gallery. Post production is an important part of the process for me and I edit artistically to produce the characteristic images you see in my portfolio. The artwork you receive from me will have a very different look and feel to the photographs taken by your friends and family.
I only accept a maximum of 15 wedding bookings a year because it’s important for me to be able to give each of my couples, and their wedding day, enough time and attention, so I can produce work of a consistently high standard. This is more than just my technical and artistic abilities but also includes the communication between us in the run-up to the big day, the time I devote to preparing for your wedding day (I don’t just rock up and start snapping!) and making sure that your photos are perfect before I deliver them to you.
When I started my wedding photography journey, my intention was (and still is) to never be ‘wedding photography factory’. You, your relationship and your wedding day are unique and wonderful, and I am determined to reflect what makes you, you in my photos. I speak with couples planning their weddings all the time and I know they pour their hearts and souls into that one special day. So it only seems right that I pour my heart and soul into producing photos that authentically capture your personalities, your style and everything you’ve worked so hard for. Your photos are your memories of your wedding day, it’s what you have left after the cake has been eaten and your guests have gone home, and it’s a responsibility I take seriously. I will meet with you at your venue so you can show me your favourite door/staircase/tree, I want to hear all about your plans, I need to know what’s important for you, I love to see your Pinterest boards, I get very excited when you send me selfies from the dress fitting and you can of course call me up for a chat! I know this approach creates more work for me and yes, it would be easier to apply the same ‘routine’ or ‘formula’ to each wedding, but I just can’t do it that way. The rewards of how I work far outweigh any extra effort and that’s what makes me tick, and happy.
So, if you like my portfolio and my words inspire you, the next step is to get in touch. Let’s chat on the phone and meet for a drink so you can tell me your love story and see if I’m the right photographer for you.
Your wedding photographs are hugely important to me and I work hard to provide you with a gallery full of pictures that you love, which creatively and artistically tell the story of your day. I take my job seriously and provide a professional service for my clients.
Creating the beautiful pictures you see in my galleries and the art in my clients' homes requires considerable skill and effort, both on your wedding day and afterwards in the digital darkroom. So it makes sense that my time and expertise are the most significant aspects of your investment.
I have purposefully made my pricing as clear and simple as possible - starting with 'The Essentials' you can add on the elements you require and create your own customised collection. (I'm happy to offer part-day coverage if you need it, please contact me for a quote.)
The Essentials £1260.00
Pre-wedding consultation and venue visit.
Myself from Bridal Prep to First Dance on your wedding day - up to 9 hours.
Post-production, editing and retouching of all your images.
Password protected online gallery where you can download all your images at high-resolution to print yourselves.
This is the minimum that you need, and may be all that you require, particularly if you are planning on producing your own album and printed artwork.
Additional Photographer +£250.00
I can only be in one place at a time, so if you would like the Groom Prep photographed before the boys leave for the ceremony, in addition to Bridal preparation images I can provide an experienced photographer to do this.
I am part of a network of skilled and trusted photographers who I can call upon to assist me when necessary. A second photographer will work with me all day and capture the moments that can sometimes be lost as I am unable to be in two places at once. All the images are edited by me so the two sets blend seamlessly.
Additional Time +£115/hr
If you are planning a firework display or would simply like more images of the evening reception, nine hours may not be enough. If you need me for longer, simply add on the extra hours you require.
USB & Keepsake Box +£135.00
A beautiful, personalised wooden keepsake box with 90 of your favourite images professionally printed (6” x 4”) and a USB containing all your images.
Engagement/Pre-Wedding Session +£210.00
An engagement session is a great way to celebrate your relationship and can be planned around something special that you share, where you met or a place you love visiting together.
Also, if you're feeling apprehensive about being in front of the camera an engagement session can help. I can show you how I'll work on your wedding day so you know exactly what to expect, and I can teach you some tricks for looking natural and relaxed in your pictures even though you may not necessarily be feeling it!
I can produce a wide variety of printed items for you; from 'thank you' cards to albums and framed prints. I work with two small, British businesses who I know and trust, and who offer the exceptional service, quality and value for money that I require for my clients artwork.
There are definite advantages to having your artwork professionally produced which I am happy to talk through with you if you wish. I also carry a large selection of samples to help you make an informed decision.
There is no need to choose any printed items until after your wedding if you're not sure what you'd like. It can be a difficult decision to make until you've seen your pictures so I don't ask my clients to commit to anything in advance.
You can find details of the printed products I offer by clicking the button below, and if you'd like something that's not listed, please ask and I can source it for you.
You’ll find all the answers to your questions about how to book, payments, insurance and lots of other information in the FAQs.
